Although we barely got the first few looks at Acer’s more serious entry on the Android tablet market, we already have root for the Iconia Tab A500. If you are wondering who pulled it off it means you are sort of new to the whole Android scene because it was the friendly neighborhood XDA Developer. The tablet was barely released and saw the first glimmers of daylight and we already get the chance to play around with it and maybe even get a chance of bricking it ourselves. Keep on reading for a detailed view on the matter!
Acer’s Iconia Tab A500 got into the lucky hands of one XDA Developer named monki-magic. He posted a step by step guide on how to get your very own Iconia Tab A500 rooted but always beware as this can always run the danger of bricking your device. If you are a brave soul then keep on reading. This was largely thanks to the hard work of XDA moderator Chainfire who recently released his Gingerbreak rooting tool which allows the user to finally gain superuser permissions on the device they are rooting.
In case you are new to the whole rooting business, then the basic idea is to really get the most of your device in terms of customization. The rooting process will allow you to really play around with the dozens of settings and really get a device which reflects you. I will be posting the links to the full thread HERE and the step by step guide HERE ( just click on the links to see the full list of how to get your device rooted ). For the newer user, Acer Iconia Tab A500 comes with a 10.1 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, NVIDIA’s Tegra 250 dual-cortex A9 processor at 1 GHz per core along with 1 GB of RAM.
On the media side of things you get a 5 megapixels rear-facing shooter and a front facing 2 megapixels camera. The device also comes with 16 GB of built-in memory along with micro SD card slot which can support up to 64 more GB of storage. The device can be picked up from Verizon Wireless so keep a keen eye out for the little monster as now you know how to root it as well! Enjoy!1
