When operating the network in 34 states, Alltel was focused on the small and medium cities, but providing wireless services to both business and residential customers in all 50 American states, base on the roaming agreements signed with Sprint and Verizon. The main advantage of this merger for the consumers, was the fact that there were able to call a larger group without spending all their minutes, and to take advantage of the Verizon's open development program.

Even if Alltel is currently not operating in too many states, their customers should still benefit of the best products and services. For this reason, at beginning of 2011, Alltel has launched four phones, running on Android operating system. Among these, we also see the mythical HTC Merge. With the Android O.S. on their Alltel phones, customers can now start enjoying all improved features that are coming with Android, having the possibility to download and use great applications from Android Market.
