How Much Memory Is Neede For Programs On An Android OS

Because Android is an open source mobile operating system, each manufacturer has taken the core of the system and they’ve customized it to make the best match with their devices. This means that even though all Android phones run the same system, each one of them is different in a certain way. While Google provides the nucleus of the operating system, manufacturers try to come up with certain things to make their own version the more appealing to the general public.

In most of the cases, Android operating systems are installed on the phones internal memory, on most Android phones this memory being more than enough, in some cases even exceeding 8 gigabytes. The operating system itself occupies a fairly small amount of this memory so the rest is available for user files and apps. Most Android smartphones have a large number of functions and features so the memory on these phones, especially the memory provided by the memory card, needs to be large in order to store music and HD media files.

The applications themselves don’t consume a large amount of memory, most applications found on the Android market having a size of just a few kilobytes. This means that even if the phone is set to allow the user to install apps only to the phone’s internal memory, this memory should be enough to install a large number of apps. The largest applications can reach as much as a few megabytes, but they never reach as high as 5 megabytes because of the simple graphics and small resolutions these apps use. Most Android apps are developed for their functionality and not for their graphics, while other work with data from the internet, case in which, nothing is permanently stored on the phone. With these kinds of apps, all you need to take care of is the cache memory. This should be set on a higher level if you know you tend to use a lot of online applications and it should be erased from time to time to make sure the phone will work as smoothly as possible.
