HTC Inspire 4G Overview

HTC’s Inspire 4G just got a killer deal on Amazon as the device is available for $59.99 on a 2 year contract with AT&T so I thought to myself – this is as good a time as any to give the “little” guy a quick overview and let you, boys and girls, know if it’s a good deal indeed.

The first thing you’ll notice with the HTC Inspire 4G when grabbing a quick overview of the phone is the fact that it doesn’t really is little. Partly because of the 4.3 inch S-LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and partly because it measures in at a hefty 4.84 x 2.68 x 0.46 inches (that’s 122.9 x 68.1 x 11.68 mm) while weighing in at 5.78 oz (that’s 164 grams). Still this extra weight and the sheer size of the phone give it a great overall feel as it just gives out a solid feeling of high build quality.

HTC Inspire 4G Overview

HTC Inspire 4G is coming powered by Qualcomm’s MSM 8255 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1 GHz while 768 MB of RAM memory will power it along nicely in applications and the sorts. The device comes with 4 GB built in storage and the package will also offer you an 8 GB micro SD card, so when it comes to space, chances are slim that you’ll run out any time soon. For those of you who wish more space, you can always swap the 8 GB micro SD for a 32 GB one.

HTC Inspire 4G takes a lot after its European counterpart, the HTC Desire HD and that actually is a touch of an understatement as the devices are basically the same. Design wise this Android phone comes with a very minimalistic approach to it, having almost the strictly necessary on its case. The rear of the phone is covered in a high quality plastic which will stop you from dropping it any time soon. The back panel is also divided as you won’t have to open the whole thing up to get access to such things as the micro SD card or your carrier SIM card, which I did find as a nice touch, yet with the HTC Thunderbolt I’ve said that there are some annoyances to this.

The specs of the HTC Inspire 4G when on the camera department are again top of the notch, as the device comes with an 8 megapixel rear camera which will record 720p HD videos at a pretty decent quality while the high number of picture modes will keep you occupied for a long while. The quality of the pictures taken with the Inspire 4G is more than satisfactory, although color reproduction is a touch to “cold”. However in low light conditions you will find that there is a certain level of noise in the pictures while the LED flash might make the images look a touch over-exposed, but for Facebook imaging, this works just great.

To wrap up this small overview of the HTC Inspire 4G I’d like to point again towards its very low price tag. Considering you get a 1 GHz processor, 768 MB of RAM, a 4.3 inch display which looks great and overall a very high quality device, I’d say it’s well worth its money. If you are looking for the highest of the highest end device, then you should be on the lookout for an LG Optimus 2X or wait around for the launch of the LG Optimus 3D or the Samsung Galaxy S 2 but if you are looking to upgrade from a more mid-range/ low end device, then make sure to give this one a look because it’s well worth the money they are asking for it. Until next time, do you think 4.3 inches is to big (in Android phone screen size of course).1
