Quad-Core powered Android Smartphones from Motorola

There are a few months since we saw the first dual-core smartphone really enter the market and NVIDIA already showed off its Tegra 3 chip which will be launching this year with a tablet first and a smartphone to follow it up towards the end of the year. The new Tegra 3 chip is a quad-core platform that delivers almost an equal power to that of a desktop processor ( mind you I’m not exactly saying that we are entering Sandy Bridge territory, but it’s something to keep in mind ). While browsing through the pages, my attention got drawn by some rumors circulating from Motorola.

The US market barely got hold of some dual-core goodness in these past few months ( weeks really ), with T-Mobile G2X finally hitting the North American market and already rumors are circulating regarding the Tegra 3 chip. To be quite precise it seems that Motorola is working on two new devices which are rumored for launch sometime in Q1 of 2012. One of them is named Motorola Bullet, which will be your run of the mill quad-core powered Android slate. Motorola’s Jet is rumored to be a smartphone with a QWERTY slide out keyboard, most likely continuing the Motorola Droid tradition.

Other than the quad-core processor in these beasts, there have been some specs circulating, but note that all of this is still heavily filed in the rumor department so don’t go overboard in celebrating just yet. As such, Motorola Bullet is rumored to launch with a 4.3 inch qHD display ( that’s 540 x 960 pixels ) and will come with the Tegra 3 chip accompanied by 1 or 2 GB of RAM ( as I said, these are still very early leaks on these 2 devices ). Motorola Jet is rumored to ship with a 4 inch display with the same resolution as the bigger Bullet, with the same Tegra 3 chip and the same amount of RAM on board.

The storage is rumored to be around the 16 GB mark with rear-facing cameras going up to the 12 megapixels mark. No word exactly on when these devices will be hitting the market other than the roughly sketched Q1 of 2012. No pictures or images are available either, so again, stay tuned for more !1
