Samsung Galaxy Pro comes free with a Three UK contract

A while ago,  I did take a quick look at the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Pro, an Android smartphone with a full sized front-facing a QWERTY keyboard as well as a touch screen. The device looked promising, it was priced correctly, as the only real competitor which sits in this category ( ergo the one dedicated to Android smartphones with front facing QWERTY keyboards and touchscreens ) is Motorola Droid Pro. Droid Pro outclasses Galaxy Pro in all the aspects, but it does come with quite the price tag. Let’s see if they did manage to price it competitively.

Samsung Galaxy Pro will be available for those of you living in the UK for the very competitive price of 149.99 GBP ( that’s $245 for those of you using dollars ) for a pay as you go plan. If you decide to get into it more seriously, you can get the device for free with a 20 GBP per month contract. As such, the device becomes a very solid solution for someone looking for an Android smartphone with all the perks of Android and with the simple and elegant shape of a candy bar design with a full QWERTY keyboard.

The device measures 4.28 x 2.63 x 0.42 inches ( which is 108.6 x 66.7 x 10.65 mm ) and weighs in at only 3.65 oz ( that’s 103 grams ). So basically, it’s cheap, it’s light, it looks fairly good and you can get it for free.

If you want more punch in your device you should go for Motorola Droid Pro, which does have better specs, but which will set you back a touch more. Stay tuned for more about Samsung Galaxy Pro!1

Samsung Galaxy S II release date in the UK

Samsung Galaxy S II is probably one of the most anticipated Android smartphones of the year. With beastly specs and the killer new Super AMOLED Plus display,  Galaxy S II seems more than a worthy successor to the first Galaxy S Android smartphone. The device got some rumored release dates here and there and we had the chance to enjoy some leaked documents from certain carriers or retailers, but this time around Samsung gave the word.

The Korea manufacturer stated that the “most powerful smartphone yet” made by them, will be reaching the UK on the 1st of May. For all of you who want to get your greedy little hands on one of these monsters, it seems that we’ll have to wait only a few short weeks and this time around we know it from Samsung. So unlike the large majority of news flying around the web, this one isn’t stamped as a rumor but as a solid fact.

Samsung’s Galaxy S II will be coming in with a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, which does look a whole lot better than the first Super AMOLED series ( not as if that one looked bad at all ). The device will weight only 116 grams and will be rocking a 1.2 GHz dual-core application processor ( by this confirming the fact that the Galaxy S II will indeed be shipping with a 1.2 GHz dual core and not 1 GHz dual-core as initially expected ).

The company went on saying that the Samsung Galaxy S II will be available across all the major retailers and networks, so you won’t have to worry about signing a contract with anyone new just to get your hands on it. However, there is no official pricing going for it, but I think we can expect the device to be roughly in the 750-800 US dollar mark area, maybe even a touch pricier, depending obviously on retailer and so forth.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9

After a long series of teasers and images in which we got small glimpses of Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, the manufacturer finally released some images as well as showcased the 8.9 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab. The device is packed full of cool new features and saw its introduction in the companionship of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Keep on reading for a full hands-on with the device.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 8.9 comes in as an attempt of the company to fill the gap between Samsung Galaxy Tab ( the 7 inch one ) and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Despite being right in the middle of the line, Galaxy Tab 8.9 comes with the same top of the line specs as its bigger brother, the 10.1 version of Galaxy Tab.

You see only the top of the line at the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. The dual-core processor offers the punch the device needs and the version of Touchwiz showcased for the platform looks really good, but then again, I do have my issues with manufacturer added UI’s. Galaxy Tab 8.9 comes in measuring 230.9 x 157.8 x 8.6 mm (that’s 9.09 x 6.21 x 0.33 inches ) and will weight only 470 grams ( that’s 1.03 pounds ). Just like the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9 looks very sleek and seems to have quite a lot of horse power under that slim exterior.

All in all the device looks great, although Samsung didn’t bring a functioning model to CTIA so we didn’t get the chance to see it in action, but other than that, the device seems great all in all. Pricing for Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is set at $469 for the Wi-Fi only 16GB one and $569 for the 32 GB one. Launch is set for the 8th of June. Stay tuned!1
