One of the best devices to hit the stores last year is the LG Optimus 2X. The device became known across the world as it had one of the shiest launches at its introduction in South Korea with everyone being surprised by the raw power of the device. The world’s very first dual-core Android powered smartphone to reach the market was here and my word, what performance came with that dual-core.
After quickly smashing all the hot phones of the moment in the benchmarks, the LG Optimus 2X took its sweet time on reaching the rest of the world, time in which I’m pretty sure that a lot of Android fans wanted to grab their greedy little hands on one of these power houses ( me included of course ). Now it seems that after the device is hitting Europe this March ( certain retailers already putting the device up for sale with a $600 or so price tag without a contract ) we’ve got the first news regarding its arrival in the US as well.
T-Mobile does have a disadvantage at the time in my opinion as the competition is throwing some hard stuff at them, with AT&T boasting the Motorola Atrix 4G and Verizon flexing its muscles with the upcoming launch of the Motorola Droid Bionic, T-Mobile US decides to take the fight to them by adding the LG Optimus 2X to their current lineup. The Android smartphone will see a name change as soon as it hits on the carrier, being codenamed the T-Mobile G2X so for anyone keeping an eye out for this device, you know what to look for now.
The only question which arises regarding the upcoming launch of the device on the network is regarding its support for the 21 Mbps network as it’s rather sure that the LG Optimus 2X, or should I say T-Mobile G2X, will come with HSPA+ compatibility, yet this question remains to be answered. Now for those of you on T-Mobile and wanting to pick up a new Android smartphone, here’s a quick look at the LG Optimus 2X specs:
- 4 inch capacitive display with a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels
- NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor with 1 GHz per core
- 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of built-in storage ( micro SD support for another 32 GB )
- 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 1080p recording and a front facing VGA camera
- Measures in at 4.88 x 2.49 x 0.43 inches ( that’s 123.9 x 63.2 x 10.9 mm ) and weighs in at 139 grams
If you want dual-core on T-Mobile, here’s your champion!
